The female of this species is easily separated from all Nearctic Anthidium except A. schwarzi by the T6, which is distinctly convex with a broad submedian lobe on the distal margin. T6 lacks the distinct lateral tooth or spine of A. schwarzi and the mandible, clypeus, and inferior paraocular area are mostly yellow; such areas are black in A. schwarzi. The male is recognized by the narrow, usually apically curved lateral lobe of T7, the distinctively broad apical hair brush on the broadly concave distal margin of S4 and the low lateral lobe and short, weakly emarginate median lobe of S6. Also, the tegula, femora and tibiae are usually light reddish-brown in both sexes.
